Painted Turtle

We went for a bike ride Sun. in a park over in Nashua called Mine Falls. The whole length of the park has an old canal
that was used by the mill in town for power and transport. The park is about 3 miles long and about a half a mile wide. The
nashua river runs along the edge of it and supplies water for the canal. If we take our bikes along all the trails we end up
going over 10 miles. The canal is the best place to see wildlife fish, ducks, turtles, and even beaver. This time of year the
amphibians are starting to warm up and aren't too quick yet so I was able to get closer to this painted turtle than they
usually allow.
The second turtle is a snapper still covered in mud it probably just came out of hibernation. It looked to be about 30 inches long from nose to
the back of it's shell, they don't get much bigger.
