Spring Point Lights

Two pictures of the same lighthouse taken about 20 minutes apart. The first was with the moon just as it was coming up over Peaks Island with the sun set and the city of Portland (Maine) behind me. The second was from the fort (Fort Preble) at the base of the jetty, with a longer exposure, as some boats were passing by.
I call this Spring Point Lights not only because it's two pictures but also because of all the different kinds of light. It has a little sun light, light from the city, from the lighthouse it self, the moon and from the boats passing by. Maybe you noticed that in the two pictures the light in the lighthouse is different. Actually it's the glass in the window that's different. They arrange red glass in such a way so the light appears red to the ships if they in the wrong path leading into the harbor. If they see white light ,flashing at the right intervals as each lighthouse has a unique flashing pattern, then they know they are on the right course. If your in a kayak the white light means lookout or you might get run over by a ship. Oh, if the lighthouse looks a little tilted that's because it is.
